Hapkido is a martial art that incorporates elements of Aikido, a defensive martial art made popular in the U.S. by Steven Segal. It also incorporates other traditional arts such as Taekwondo and grappling (BJJ – Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Japanese Judo). It is primarily focused on de-escalating an attack, while providing the necessary elements for self-defense.

3. What are other benefits of class besides the ability to defend oneself and de-escalate a situation?

In addition to becoming more able to defend themselves, students will see improvements in other areas as well. They will have a channel to direct excess energy in a positive and constructive manner, enhance flexibility, mobility, and coordination. They will also see significant growth in body strength. Classes also highlight traditional values such as discipline, respect, and self-fulfillment. Students learn these values in a friendly training environment that promotes social interaction, growth, and development.
